NK — SAMSUNG

The local Samsung team approached me for collaboration in search of a person with a distinctive way of portraying Belgrade. I was commissioned to test the Samsung Galaxy 20 Ultra, or rather – its camera, on the city streets. I opted for the vertical format, as I was aware of the fact that Instagram stories and their borders/dimensions have greatly influenced the way we frame and perceive our photographs today. After spending a few days walking and studying the camera possibilities, I ended up with a collection of images taken in various moods, situations and places.

In addition, the Samsung crew made an atypical (sort of making-of) video (Director: Igor Despotović / DP: Milan Petković), depicting my work methods and presenting my photographs and Belgrade itself. My friend Žarko Komar (aka Feloneezy) is the author of custom-made music for this video, so the video actually turned out to be an unpretentious combination of correlative aesthetic processes.

This kind of partnership was a refreshment, as I was given the opportunity to do what I’ve enjoyed most over the past years, and which I have somewhat neglected due to other work – to wander, observe and take pictures. It gave me a boost and motivation for my further personal plans, while at the same time being a well-organized commercial project.
