A Blank Map
Kula gallery
Cetinjska 15, Belgrade
02.06—19.06.2022.The solo exhibition A Blank Map presented a series of photographs taken in Sarajevo between 2014 and 2020.
Essay about the city, written by my friend Maša Seničić, was also placed on the walls of the gallery, initiating a dialogue with the photographs.
Walking as a method connects both of our views of Sarajevo, which suggest a dynamic reading of the city by accumulating individual experiences and perspectives. Sarajevo seeks engagement from observers and travellers, but also a commitment to recognizing its complex historical, cultural and political context. As an author whose photographic practice is primarily encouraged by movement across the Balkans and Europe, in this series I present common scenes that stand out with atmosphere or location-specific details. Separated from everyday life, they become raw depictions of the place.
Some of the photographs, along with the essay, make up a two-part bilingual (Serbian/English) publication named after the exhibition. A limited edition of numbered and signed copies is available for purchase either at Kula Gallery or directly through this website.
